We are delighted to share that planning approval has been granted for a carefully considered restaurant extension to a much-loved listed pub. An exciting milestone for both our team and our clients.
This project has been particularly rewarding due to its complexity. The pub is not only a listed building, requiring thoughtful and sensitive design solutions, but also lies within the Detailed Emergency Planning Zone (DEPZ) for AWE Burghfield, adding an extra layer of planning scrutiny and regulation.
Securing approval involved extensive consultation, multiple rounds of negotiation, and a comprehensive package of supporting information to address heritage, technical, and planning concerns. We worked closely with our clients, planning officers, and specialist consultants to deliver a proposal that respects the character of the original building while creating a vibrant, functional space for the local community.
The approved design introduces a contemporary yet sympathetic extension, featuring large areas of glazing, complementary materials, and a foliage-draped pergola, enhancing the relationship between interior and exterior and offering a welcoming new dining environment.
We are proud to have supported our clients through this challenging process and are excited to see this project progress on site. It’s been a privilege to be involved in helping bring this vision to life.
