LOVELL HOUSE

Modest home extension to dramatically increase living space, Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire

RESIDENTIAL EXTENSION OVERVIEW

A modest home extension and internal refurbishment of an existing terraced property in Henley-on-Thames has transformed a small, tired kitchen into an open, airy kitchen and living space.

CLIENT REQUIREMENT

The existing kitchen of this three bedroomed home was incredibly confined, with limited light and in need of modernisation. Our client wished to utilise a minimally sized solution yet achieve the maximum possible impact on the original living space.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

The limited size of the garden was an additional consideration to the design as the owner wished to retain as much usable space in the garden as possible.

Our
Approach

Our solution incorporated a small, rear extension to increase the size of the kitchen and an internal refurbishment to re-plan the space within. Our design included the use of high level 'clerestory' glazing wrapping round the top of the extension to bathe the interior in light. With the addition of bi-fold opening glass doors to the garden, the new space would not only be light and airy but also connected to the outdoor space, allowing for easy 'Alfresco' dining in the warmer months. The internal refurbishment works included the creation of a new opening to the dining room to give a more open feel to the kitchen and light, modern finishes throughout the scheme complete the look.

AREA

The new extension totals just 13 square metres.

STATUS

This project is now complete and we are happy to say our client is very satisfied with their new home.

"It has transformed the way I use the house and also given me a much more connected outlook on the garden. It is a great space which I know I will enjoy for many years to come!"
